OPENING RECEPTION AND GALLERY OF ARTS TRIBUTE

Fine art will be displayed in the Atrium and North Wall galleries of the beautifully-restored Emporium Center at 100 S. Gay Street, which is located in Knoxville's downtown arts anchor location. The exhibit will be showcased from January 6 thru January 31 , 2017, which will feature works by African and African American artists that reflect the themes of Unity, Community, Love, Racial Reconciliation, Social Justice, and Civil Rights.
The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission announce a call for entries for the annual Gallery of Arts Tribute, an exhibition developed to recognize local artists and honor the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Approximately 25-40 fine art works will be selected for display in the Atrium and North Wall galleries of the beautifully-restored Emporium Center at 100 S. Gay Street, Knoxville’s downtown arts anchor location, from January 6 - 31.
Artwork should be delivered on Monday-Tuesday, January 4-5, between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
The exhibition seeks to feature: 1) works by African and African American artists living within 50 miles of Knoxville; and/or 2) works that pertain to the themes of Unity, Community, Love, Reconciliation, Social Justice, and Civil Rights by any artist living within 50 miles of Knoxville. Each artist may submit up to three works. There is no entry fee. Entries must be original and completed within the last five years in the following categories: 2-D (painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, photography) and 3-D (sculpture of all media).
